Mileage Bidding Process
The mileage bidding process was created to alleviate some of the stress of first come, first serve style registration. Within the mileage bidding process section of the registration, the student is given a set amount of points. The student must then allocate the points towards classes based on how much the student needs/wants to take a class. Classes will also have a maximum allocation value, meaning that there is a limit to the amount of points that a student can set aside for that class.
All exchange/visiting students will be given 72 undergraduate points or 60 graduate points to allocate towards classes. However, students typically will not be able to give the maximum value to all their classes. For example, if a student is applying for four classes that all have a maximum value of 32 points, they would not be able to allocate 32 points for all classes.
Since the registration is based on the amount of allocation points, the time that the student applied doesn't matter as long as a student applies during the period. After the period is over, classes will be assigned and students will find out if they made it into their classes or if they were waitlisted.

Registration Result View
After the time period for the mileage bidding process has completed, the registration result view period begins. This period is only for finding out if a student has made it into a class. If you made it into a class, the registration result page will indicate that you are registered for the course. If not, a waiting number will be listed and you will proceed to the next section. Do not stress if you are not registered for a class immediately. There is always another option to get into the classes of your choice.
Waiting Number System
The waiting number system is very simple. Once your number is up, you will need to register for the course. This process is very similar to the waitlist option at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. If for some reason you are very low on the waitlist or you feel that you won't be able to get into the class, email the professor and see if they are willing to work with you and allow you to take the course. Some professors are very cooperative, but there are some that will not allow you into the class. That being said, you shouldn't have too many problems with registering.
